What Not to Click or Miss This Week

Important reminders and updates from Melissa Jay Murphy

Dear Members,

Let's reminisce a bit this week.  What might make us nostalgic about the good old days?  Ha!  You know this is a set up………..

NEW SCAM.  What is the newest scam out there?  You need to know about this!  Several Members recently received an email that looked like it came from Simplifile.  The content of the email was titled "Notice of Recorded Package" with a link to access "your" package of documents.  DO NOT CLICK ON THIS LINK.  Simplifile has confirmed that these emails are not coming from them.  If you received one of these emails, please reach out to Simplifile immediately and let them know.  BE SUSPICIOUS. BE SMART.  STAY VIGILANT.

Well, I hope you feel better that some things have not changed at all with the pandemic.   So what else is going on?

Assembly 2020 Online is THIS WEEK.  There is still time to register but you must do so by June 9, i.e., NOW.  While Assembly is different this year, it will be a great experience for you!   Do you know the right answers to those Title Teaser questions?  Can you get a passing grade on the Case Law Quiz? Do you want to bank up to 20 CLE credits for The Florida Bar?  All things that you can do with Assembly this year.  Here is a link to register https://www.thefund.com/assembly.  (Because of Assembly, there is no TitleNow PopUp Webinar this week but we will pick back up with the PopUps next week.)

We sent out a Member Survey a couple of weeks ago and many of you have already responded.  It should not take long to complete and we are very interested in hearing from you.  I am particularly interested in hearing about new ways we can support you as you meet the challenges of the pandemic.  Here is a link to the survey if you have not yet responded. https://www.getfeedback.com/r/QdD98anq

Governor DeSantis recently extended the moratorium on foreclosures and residential evictions through July 1, 2020.  Attached are copies of the applicable Executive Orders (EO 20-92, EO 20-121 and EO 20-137).

Federal legislative relief.  Legislation passed by both the House and the Senate eases forgiveness rules for PPP funding by increasing the length of time to use PPP loan funds and reduces the share that must go toward payroll costs. The bill, the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act of 2020, is now on its way to President Trump's desk for his signature.  ALTA is sponsoring a one hour seminar on How to Plan for PPP Loan Forgiveness on Wednesday June 10, 2020 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM.  Here is a  link for more information.  ALTA Insights: How to Plan for PPP Loan Forgiveness

That's all for this week.  Stay safe.  Let us know how we can help you.

Oh, and I am still recording from my closet.
